Accessibility statement
How we make this website usable for everyone, and how to ask for help.
This statement applies to the Eastfield Medical Practice website. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it and are working towards the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA. It has passed an internal structural and visual review, but has not yet completed an independent accessibility audit or comprehensive testing with assistive technologies. We therefore do not claim full compliance.
Known limitations
- The live status, prescription and date tools use JavaScript. Core information remains in the page, but every combination has not been tested with all screen readers.
- The separate waiting-room display is designed for a fixed practice screen and has not been assessed as a general public web page.
- Accessibility of external services linked from this site is controlled by their providers.
We will update this statement when formal testing identifies or resolves further issues.
Getting information in another format
We can provide information in large print, Easy Read, audio and other accessible formats — see Help in your language or format, or phone 01968 675 576.
Interpreters, translation and BSL
Free NHS Lothian interpreters, British Sign Language support and translated health information are all available — how to arrange each is explained on Help in your language or format.
Visiting the practice
There is access through the main entrance. A wheelchair is available for use within the surgery, and a portable induction loop is available; please ask reception. Registered assistance dogs are welcome.
Tell us if you need a wheelchair-accessible room, interpreter, chaperone, quieter approach, more time where possible, help on arrival, or another reasonable adjustment. If you may not hear your name being called, we can agree another way to collect you from the waiting room and record a confidential note about the support you need.
Access information can change. If a particular facility is essential for your visit, contact reception before travelling so we can confirm current arrangements.
Reporting an accessibility problem
If you cannot access part of the website or need information in another format, phone the practice on 01968 675 576 or tell us in person at Eastfield Farm Road, Penicuik, EH26 8EZ. We will consider your request and use the feedback to improve the site.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission enforces the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. If you are unhappy with how we respond, the Equality Advisory and Support Service can provide advice.
How we tested the website
This statement was prepared on 15 July 2026. The site was internally reviewed using automated structural checks, keyboard-oriented markup checks and visual checks of representative desktop pages. Formal assistive-technology and independent WCAG testing remain outstanding.
We will review this statement after significant website changes, after formal accessibility testing and at least annually.
