Skilled nursing assessment and care for people who need to be treated in their own home.
District nurses provide nursing assessment and treatment in people’s homes. The service supports independence, long-term-condition management, treatment of illness, disability and frailty, and palliative or end-of-life care where this can safely be delivered at home.
Who the service is for
Home nursing is for people who are housebound or clinically unable to attend the practice or another clinic. Lack of transport alone does not usually make someone eligible. The team will assess the referral and decide the safest and most appropriate setting.
How to access it
If you think you need district nursing, contact Eastfield on 01968 675 576. A clinician or appropriate professional will assess what is needed and make a referral when indicated. If you already receive care from the Penicuik community nursing team, use the contact arrangements they have given you.
